When I pass…
I’ll be young and looking my best.
Wrap me in silk shrouds
And place shiny pearls
On my chest.
Sent me above to the clouds
Into the alluring after world.
Everyone will remember me,
That’s immortality.
Everyone will love me when I’m gone.
They will say I was wise, skilled and strong-willed
When the truth is I was a clueless coward all along.

Groody – Death Poems

Comments Off

Groody blew spices,
it sounded like jazz in the south
but that was a long time ago.

When he kicked the bucket
all the neighborhood kids hushed outside,
thinking he would come back and play
if they were quiet.

The folks who danced to his sound,
when he played in town
never went back there again.
It all just felt too empty without the music.

Groody had brittle hands
and lips that told stories in melodies.
Groody was a musician.

Here comes the candy man
Cashing the innocent people
who’s lives he will take

Run,run the candy man
is after you getting ready
to take your life

He is right behind you
He stabs you in the back
with his bloody hooked hand
Laughing as you fall to the ground

Walk away, out of my life
I thought you were my hero
If only, still, not now of course
Tick tock, the clock’s struck Zero

Of course I’d of forgiven you
If I’d of had a chance.
I could of given you advice
If I’d known in advance

I would of been excited for you
Worried beyond belief;
Now I recognize that feeling
The feeling of relief

Still could you of not told me?
I trusted you completely
And though there never was one
How could you betray the treaty?

Yet now you lie around the earth
And scattered in the wind
Every whisper, and every sound
Has a piece of you in

That’s all that’s left of your legacy.

My world was painted in black and grey
Same people and faces
And places each day

Except for you
A drop of color in a dark and dreary world
Through your eyes, I could always see my world… anew

You where the flower that brightened my day
The rose which made me stop, just to enjoy life
And no matter the situation, you always new what to say.

But our time together flew by
Like the days of summer
And all things must wither, and die

But that does not stop the cry of my heart,
Or the tears welling up in my eyes
You have been in my life from the start

I love you this big daddy
And I know you love me more
I will see you gain someday, but until then I’ll still be sad

Be the journey
Far or near
When you call
I will come to you
Child of mine

I have heard your call
Lying in a coma
Ravaged by illness
Yet you reach out
To hold my hand

And take it I will
To never let go
In this life
Or the next

For a mother’s tears
Will sanctify the spot
Making it holy
For the transition
(Poem by Paul Rainwater)
